So, Lee, how come there's no
progress on this project?
I tend to be pretty closed-mouthed about my personal life, but maybe it's time I let loose a bit, especially since it means I can whine a bit; poor, poor, pitiful me!

Back in March, just a week after my 50th birthday, I was diagnosed with cancer (an embarassing but fairly survivable kind).

Since then, I've been busy having x-rays and cat scans, blood tests, moving from one house to another, chemotherapy (lost 10 lbs, gained it all back), radiation, and surgery (9 hours on the operating table! 15 days in the hospital! Lost 25 lbs, am keeping it off!).

Next up: more x-rays and another cat scan (I'm glad my health plan has a yearly maximum co-pay for tests; the cat scans run $1600-$1800 EACH; my co-pay is half that, and this will be #3), another move September first, then surgery again, six months of chemo, and yet another move sometime in November.

Although I've sculpted part of a torch bearer (torso, head, arms), I don't think I'm going to get much more done on this project this year. I don't have a good place to work here, and I'm not sure the next house will have one, either, and it's tough to unpack when you know you'll have to pack it back up real soon.

So I'm taking the link out of my signature file until I get moving on it again.
Ugh, moving. We'll have to find a place we want to stay soon!
